Stunning Tuscan Towns You Need to See

It’s no secret that Tuscany is home to some of the most breathtaking rustic towns in all of central Italy – which is one of the many reasons why it’s such a popular destination for a relaxing holiday. Whether you come for the many iconic landmarks here, or the delicious food and wine; the beauty of the region is sure to leave you speechless. However, with so many great locations, some might not know where to go during their vacation.

If you plan to come to Tuscany, be sure to visit these towns during your stay.

Whether you want to see stunning sites like the Santa Maria Cathedral or enjoy a little wine tasting, the town of Cortona is the perfect place to be. Aside from this, there’s also the fact that the town offers some breathtaking views of the natural beauty of central Tuscany and even landmarks like Lake Trasimeno, thanks to its position above the plains of Valdichiana.

Don’t forget that there’s much more to enjoy than the beautiful views – in fact, most people visit the town to try some of the many delicious traditional meals and wines that this part of Tuscany has to offer. With a number of trattorias in the area, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to get a taste of Tuscany’s culture. There are also the world-famous vineyards that are a must-visit for anyone who wants to do a little wine tasting during their visit.

Most visit Montepulciano for the many great vineyards (and the delicious red grapes they produce), but most of those who visit will be in awe of the rustic beauty and traditional charm of this Tuscan town. What makes it even better is that you can feel and see the Etruscan and Roman influences just by walking through the many ancient streets here.

Regardless of what you enjoy there’s typically something interesting for everyone. One thing that you must aim to do during your visit is take a look at masterpieces like the Palazzo Nobili-Tarugi and the Palazzo Comunale in the centre of the town – you’re sure not to be disappointed.

San Gimignano

San Gimignano is another location that has so much to offer, although many come to see the iconic 15 towers; a spectacular landmark full of history.

There were originally 72 standing, but when the Florentine’s took control, they demolished most of them. What remains a mystery is why 15 were left intact, since they would usually get rid of all the towers in any given area to assert their power.

This alone makes San Gimignano a town that you just have to see during your visit to Tuscany, whether you’re interested in history or not!
