Most Famous Pieces of Tuscan Art

Michelangelo’s statue of David

Sculpted in Florence, the marble statue of David is easily one of the most well known pieces of art to come from the region of Tuscany. Created by Michelangelo, this piece depicts the Biblical hero David, who now stands as a paragon for civil liberties for the Republic of Florence and beyond.

Today, it can be found in the Gallery of the Academy of Florence – so be sure to check it out during your stay.

The Gates of Paradise by Lorenzo Ghiberti

Sculpted by an extremely talented goldsmith and sculptor of the Early Renaissance from Florentine, Lorenzo Ghiberti, the gates of paradise are the expertly crafted bronze doors of the Florence Baptistery. These doors were actually named by Michelangelo himself, and they’re certainly a sight to see.

The Madonna del Parto pieces of art31

There have been many pieces of art of the Madonna del Parto (Madonna of Parturition), which depicts a pregnant Virgin Mary. Amazing artists like Bernando Daddi, Nardo di Cione, and Taddeo Gaddi have all created their own versions – although the one by Piero della Francesca is one of the most famous.
